The Middle School Experience at Cathedral High School
Cathedral’s middle school division delivers the best of both worlds to our 7th and 8th-grade scholars: dedicated resources and a tailored program rooted in middle school education best practices – while being integrated within the high school to deliver robust opportunities and experiences!
Tailored Programming
Engaging Curriculum
The middle school curriculum is designed to encourage exploration and set scholars up for success in high school and beyond. Learn more about the curriculum here
Dedicated School Counselor
Our specialized middle school counselor helps to smooth the transition from elementary school into middle school while preparing scholars to make the most of their experience with an eye toward the future!
Designated Learning Area
Middle school classrooms are located in close proximity to one another in the middle school wing of the school. This builds community and allows for cross-curricular collaboration!
Advisory Program
Each week, middle school scholars gather as a small community to celebrate the “Scholar of the Week” who embodies our values of character, commitment, and compassion. During this time, scholars also work with teachers and their guidance counselors to discuss academic success and other adolescent issues like digital citizenship and health and wellness.
Special Events
Families are invited to a “Step Up Ceremony,” where our 8th-grade scholars present their final projects and celebrate their transition from middle school to high school. Additional special events, such as retreats, field trips, and middle school movie nights are also offered exclusively for our middle school scholars.
Integrated Experience
Extracurriculars and Athletics
Middle school scholars are invited to join several clubs, activities, and athletics teams. Our Student Council even has dedicated middle school positions to develop leadership skills in our youngest Panthers!
Community Events
Scholars of all grades come together to celebrate and build community through events including academic award ceremonies, pep rallies, potluck meals, all-school Masses, and more.
“I am in 8th grade at Cathedral. I chose Cathedral because of all the opportunities here. I love my teachers – they are so kind and helpful. My favorite class is science because what I am learning is fascinating. I am glad I came to middle school at Cathedral because I will already have community and friends before starting 9th grade next year!
I know I am getting a good education because I see the students in the higher grades getting into good colleges and becoming successful.”
