Supporting our scholars to become Leadership, College, and Life Ready
School and College Counseling
100% of Cathedral seniors are accepted into college. In partnership with our School and College Counseling office, scholars are supported through the entire college process
Tailored programming for each grade level:
Beginning in 7th grade, scholars embark on a six-year college readiness curriculum and are given opportunities to begin preparing for their futures in college and beyond. With specific courses dedicated to college readiness, Cathedral students are supported through every step of the college process.
College and Career Exploration:
Cathedral offers extensive opportunities to explore college options and career possibilities, from college visits to career workshops, internship opportunities, and so much more. Counselors also work with each scholar to build a schedule of classes tailored to their college and career aspirations!
University partnerships:
Cathedral is proud of the strong partnerships and relationships formed with higher education institutions including Boston College, Emmanuel College, and Stonehill College. These partnerships enable our scholars to continue their journey of an accessible and transformational Catholic education.
Resources for families:
We know the college process can be overwhelming not only for scholars but for families, too. We work as a team with scholars and families, providing resources and workshops to help demystify the application and financial aid processes.
Wellness Center
Middle and high school are incredibly formative years, full of changes, opportunities, and, oftentimes, stresses. The Wellness Center is here to support all Cathedral scholars and their families with resources and provide a safe space to feel seen and heard. A scholar visiting the Wellness Center may simply need a quiet space to regroup, or they may require a deeper level of ongoing support. The Wellness Center is designed to meet each scholar where they are.
Dedicated team of professionals
With a full-time social worker supported by two graduate social work interns, the Wellness Center is equipped to serve the needs of Cathedral scholars.Mental health support and resources
The Wellness Center provides mental health support, triage, and crisis intervention. The team works in connection with outside providers and provides scholars with resources, in collaboration with the scholar’s family or caregiver.Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) approach
The Wellness Center employs Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), a strengths-based model promoting self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making – all skills that are critical for scholars to become Leadership Ready, College Ready, and Life Ready.Student groups
The Wellness Center offers various student groups to help scholars build relationships and more deeply connect to the school community.Nurse’s Office
Our scholars’ health and wellness are critical to their academic success. Our Nurse’s office is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care so your scholar can return to the classroom feeling healthy, cared for, and ready to learn.
Physical Exams at Cathedral
In partnership with Tufts Medical Center, Cathedral scholars can complete their annual physical exams here at school, at no cost, to be eligible for athletics participation.
Athletics Safety Workshops
In collaboration with the Athletics department, we offer health workshops to scholar-athletes on topics such as concussion safety and injury prevention
“Each scholar comes to Cathedral with their own background, their own culture, and their own traditions. We celebrate, nurture, and embrace the unique strengths each scholar brings to our community. The team of adults here at Cathedral is here to help each scholar harness their individual gifts and perspectives, and in doing so, ensure that they are prepared to confidently enter the outside world after high school, ready to take on both opportunities and challenges that may come their way.” – Margaret Kiwanuka, School Social Worker
